Minnehaha Academy welcomes a new Upper School choir director this fall, Karen Lutgen.

Directing Singers, the Men’s Choir, the Wom- en’s Choral, and the Madrigals, Lutgen said the friendliness and talent of Minnehaha singers has been great. Lutgen has an extensive background teaching and directing choirs at a variety of ages in Stillwater, Lakeville and Northfield.

“Singing was always my favorite thing grow- ing up, not just at school but at church, it was a big part of my faith,” said Lutgen about what drove her to become a Choir teacher. She enjoys being able to share her love for music with her eager students and hopes to in- crease the number in both the Men’s and Women’s choirs in the years to come, she said.

“I’m hoping to be able to work a little bit more with the middle school and see about what we can do to get people excited about singing in their earlier years,” said Lutgen.
